We’ve got some syncing news we’d like to share:
We’re pleased to announce the beta of MoneyWell Sync. This is initially available for MoneyWell 3 on Mac along with a newly revamped MoneyWell Express for iPhone.
We threw together a little preview video to demonstrate it working. (This was recorded on an actual Mac, and an actual iPhone—the recordings were composited afterwards.)
We know there are some rough edges, but functionally, it works. To make more progress we need your help—which is why we’re launching the beta.
How does it sync?
We’re using iCloud sync. If you have an iCloud account set-up, MoneyWell will use this to sync automatically. This is currently the only option. We’ve explored a number of different options, and this is the best one for now. This could change in the future.
Consequently, we have no access to your data. This is mostly a good thing—we don’t want to see your data—but it does make trouble-shooting more difficult if things don’t go according to plan. For now we think this is worth the trade off.
The initial beta requires that all devices be on the same iCloud account. In a subsequent beta, we’ll be introducing the option to share a MoneyWell budget with a different iCloud account.
How to sign up
We’re rolling the beta out gradually. We want to make sure things go smoothly before adding too many people, so please don’t expect an instant download link when you sign up.

After signing up, you’ll be e-mailed a link to a survey. Please fill in the survey with the same e-mail you used to sign-up to the list.
Apologies if the formatting of the survey is a little funky—that’s our mailing list provider.
We’ll be using TestFlight to distribute MoneyWell Express on iPhone and will provide full instructions on how to get set-up when we contact you about testing.
If you’ve already signed up to the list but haven’t heard anything yet, don’t panic. We’ve got your details and you’ll hear from us soon.
We know the iPad is important, and we haven’t forgotten it. It’s taken us a long time to get to here as it is, so we’ve had to focus our attention. iPad sync is up next and we’ve already started that work.
We know it’s been a long road to get to this point, and you’ve waited patiently for the restoration of this essential feature. We have lots more planned. This is really just the first step.
